I didn't want to pick a single photo from her collections so I thought I would look at her photography as a whole and comment on the qualities found throughout all of her works.
1965 Day was born in the UK and throughout her life and greatly influenced style and the perception of photography. She is a self-taught photographer and is often known for forming long and close bonds with her sitters, Kate Moss being the most familiar. Her hard-edged documentary look of fashion photography often included biographical elements causing at times a certain frisson of
discomfort among her viewers.
I love Day's photography. I literally have not found one single picture throughout her work that I did not like. While I admit that I may be a bit bias due to my immense love of fashion photography. But her ability to expose a sitter for who they truly are through a single photograph is absolutely beautiful. I appreciate her ability to take a different approach to fashion photography and in the end ended up influencing the entire world of fashion photography for the better. She is truly one of my idols and I hope to one day make half as big an impact as she did on the photography world.
