aNdY wArHoL

I could sit here and write for the next couple weeks or so about Andy Warhol and everything that he has done within his lifetime. Born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Warhol began at a very young age and by the time school rolled around Warhol was a recognized artist with a gift. He began studying at the Commercial Art at the School of Fine Arts at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. While there is more to write than I could possible imagine I thought I would wrap up some of Warhol's work in a couple short sentences because this could really take all day.

Warhol was an extremely successful painter, printmaker, filmmaker, and an extremely influential figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. After success as a commercial illustrator Warhol's stardom sky-rocketed. He became a world-renowned painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and a member of numerous highly diverse social groups including the likes of young Hollywood stars at the time.
Warhol went through many phases of his work highlighting numerous different features of photography but like mentioned above pop art was an extremely important part of our culture and Warhol was the pioneer so I have included a couple iconic Warhol pics.

Warhol was a pioneer and will continue to pave the way for photographers still today.

Personally I am and have been addicted to Warhol. Everything about him fascinates me. I love that he isn't scared. He doesn't hide or try to portray something that he isn't. I love that he was able to take a standard photograph and turn it into something that will forever go down in the history of photography, pop art. He experimented and was never shy about anything from his photography to his filmmaking to his everyday life. I love and appreciate his pride in his work and his ability to never slow down. He didn't care what other people thought and his work resembled a love for what he does and a love for the people he portrayed in his photographs. His ability to achieve all of this and die at the young age of 58 is absolutely remarkable and something I hope one day to accomplish.
